Improving Governance & MCS in tuna fisheries -rising the challenges by grabbing the opportunities-
Improving fisheries management is a common goal shared by governments, fichers, processors, environmental NGOs and consumers alike. Everyone agrees that promoting principles of good governance, fighting against illegal Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing and improving Monitoring Control and Surveillance (MCS) systems are key elements of this goal. But, there are many challenges to achieving these, especially in countries with limited resources.
The Side Event will adress these issues trough three short presentations, followed by a question-answer session. Attendees will also be able to discuss these issues with the presentrs ans sponsors during the event while enjoying refreshments and snacks. The presentations will cover the following topics:
