José Blasco received an MSc (1994) and PhD in Computer Science at Universitat Politècnica de València (2001). He worked at IBM Spain as system analyst before he joined at the Public Research Institute IVIA (Spain) in 1996. Since then, he is working on the development and application of Computer Vision Systems to the agriculture and food industry. He is the current Chair of the CIGR Working Group on Image Analysis for Agricultural Products and Processes and the head of the Agricultural Engineering Centre of IVIA. His fields of interest are focused on computer vision, real-time quality inspection and monitoring applications for agricultural engineering and precision agriculture trough technologies such as color, multispectral or hyperspectral imaging. Among the results of his research are highlighted the coordination of several research projects that has led to obtain national and international patents, and the publication of about 40 articles in peer reviewed journals with impact factor, more than 100 contributions to congresses and conferences including more than 10 invited conferences, and several book chapters and technical articles.
