Morocco: The platform for North Africa
In the last years, Morocco has become one of the most attractive business partners and trade platform of North Africa. The continuously increasing economy of 4%, the free trade agreement with the EU, the stable political situation and a concerted program of reformations and sector funding will secure the future privileged role of Morocco in North Africa. An important component of the Moroccan economy is the agri-food sector, which generates currently 20% of the GDP. While the government has been intensively promoting the agricultural sector, the system of food processing is still at the beginning. With about four billion Euros this sector represents a third of what the agricultural sector produces. Compared with this relatively small food industry there is an increasing demand of food by a growing middle class which the national market can't satisfy yet.
The food Industry
Developing the local food industry is a designated target of the Moroccan government in order to ensure the food supply of their own country and to become an exporter of food products, especially to Europe and the Arabic and African regions. To achieve this target, the development programs offered by the government are supporting the construction of a food industry with European quality and hygiene standards.
Producers of machines and production technologies have the same promising sales opportunities like the producers of food additives and packaging system.
The Exhibition
MAFEX - Maghreb Food Exhibition is the platform for manufacturers of machines, products and ingredients of this sector. MAFEX expects 450 exhibitors, particularly from Europe and the states of Maghreb. Most recent trends and solutions of the North African food industry will be presented to over 10,000 trade visitors coming from the surrounding states. During the exhibition different conferences will inform the visitors about current topics of the food production and security. The conferences are organized by the DLG e.V.
