La contaminación constituye la causa ambiental más importante de enfermedad y muerte prematura en el mundo actual. Se estima que las enfermedades causadas por la contaminación fueron la causa de 9 millones de muertes prematuras en 2015 (un 16% del total de muertes de todo el mundo), es decir, tres veces más muertes que las debidas al sida, la tuberculosis y la malaria juntas, y 15 veces más que las causadas por todas las guerras y otras formas de violencia. En los países más gravemente afectados, las enfermedades asociadas a la contaminación son responsables de más de una de cada cuatro muertes. La contaminación causa la muerte de una manera desproporcionadamente mayor en los individuos pobres y vulnerables.

NRCS District Conservationist Mike Richolson and NRCS Area Agronomist Paul Youngstrom will discuss the agronomic benefits of raising cover crops along with cost share opportunities to establish cover crops through the USDA’s Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).
